Dedebit Microfinance Reports Strong Growth in Children’s Savings Accounts…

Dedebit Microfinance has announced that 334,029 children currently hold savings accounts with the institution, reflecting a growing culture of saving among young people.

During the current fiscal year alone, 30,538 children opened new savings accounts, becoming new customers of the institution.

According to the report, children have collectively saved ETB 215,421,323, highlighting the increasing importance of early financial literacy and a savings culture for future generations.

Dedebit Microfinance continues to encourage parents and guardians to open savings accounts for their children, emphasizing that investing in children’s financial future today helps build a stronger tomorrow.

While this milestone is highly commendable, financial experts increasingly encourage parents and Dedebit Microfinance to think beyond traditional savings. Establishing a disciplined, regular contribution plan following a Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) approach and investing consistently over an 18-year horizon can help children build significantly greater long-term wealth than relying on savings alone. Combining a savings habit with long-term investing has the potential to better protect against inflation and harness the power of compound growth.
