DECSI management determinedly working to transform the financial service [DECSI-PR | 30 October 2023]

October 30, 2023. DECSI, Tigray.  Dedebit Credit and Saving Institution (DECSI) introduced new digital technology called Tele Birr. The digital Tele Birr service officially launched on October 30, 2023 in the presence of the CEO, vice COEs, and management members, staff and representatives from Ethiotelecom at DECSI head office.

As the digital service coordinators explained, Tele Birr service is easily manageable, deliver fast money transfer, convenient and secure. Understanding these all smart financial service advantages, DECSI in discussion with Ethiotelecom, took the responsibility to serve its clients being as master agent service provider. Thus, DECSI customers will have service opportunities of bill payment, payment for Ethiopian airline, fuel subsidy, international remittance, receive and send money from and to Banks, mobile package and airtime gift etc.

According to Mr. Mulugeta Birhane, the CEO, DECSI at this time has around 1.5 million money depositors. These depositors should have to be served in a digitalized manner, like the Tele Birr and other system based financial services. DECSI, vice CEO & Chief of Operation, Mr. Samuel Kiflom, mentioned that the organization needs to pass up manual saving and credit services so as to evade bulk works and jump to inevitable service transformation. Thus, the Tele Birr will have contribution in this regard.  

Mr. Abrahaley Hagos, Branch Operation & Customer Service Department Manager, on his part says the computation in the financial sector is remained high. As a financial institution, therefore, we have to compute to succeed and achieve our mission. One mechanism to compute is introducing digital financial services akin to Tele Birr.

According to Mr Kidane Aregawi, coordinator of the digital service, so far there are 18 operational branches providing Tele Birr services in Mekelle city.  

Eventually, Mr. Mulugeta Amare from Ethiotelecom underlined that the agreement reached between DECSI and Ethiotelecom concerning Tele Birr service is essential to exploit our shared values. He believed that, the accord will serve as corner stone for other latest digital services to come. 

The digital Tele Birr service launching ceremony organized by DECSI has got both TV and Radio coverage program to well deliver into the public. Soon, the Tele Birr service operated by DECSI will expand its digital service to zonal branches.
